I'm looking to transfer into other universities after transferring here this year. The main reason for this is because of the cost of attendance, and my family is strongly against me getting loans, and in my household, the parents words are absolute. Our family financial situation has been declining and we are getting through largely because we are receiving financial aid from our other family members.
There are other reasons as well, such as my current school not focused on research as much as I'd like it to be,, but the financial situation is the primary concern.
I was wondering if I should earnestly tell them that the current university I'm in is actually quite nice, particularly the community, but the cost of attendance is simply too high and I would like to attend an institution that has a strong program in what I'm majoring in, great focus on research, and can provide me more financial aid?
tldr; Should I write on my transfer essay that my primary reason for transferring is because of cost of attendance?
Yes, absolutely. Colleges need to know how much of a struggle it can be to afford it.
To keep this community safe and supportive:
Hi, thanks for the response! That's what I'm thinking as well, but I thought it would seem like a weak reason for transferring into their university. As mentioned, there are other reasons as well, such as their strong research on focus and collaborative environment that resembles my current university, but the cost remains as the primary concern. I'm wondering if I should phrase it a certain way, or is it fine to outright say that the main reason I'm transferring is the cost of attendance?
