Question about extracurriculars and student gov
Answered

Hello!

I'm currently a junior in high school, and looking to apply to colleges this upcoming summer/fall. One of my favorite extracurriculars is being in student council, which I've done in 9th and 11th grade. However, in 10th grade I lost the election for a student council seat, and wasn't able to participate. Will this 1 missed year affect my application at all?

I don't think so. You still did it for 2 years, and if you are worried about it, you can explain how you lost the additional information. As long as you have 4-5 activities that you have done for a while, that's what colleges would like to see.

Hey!

I don't think it will affect your application especially because you are on student council currently. Also, this instance could be seen by colleges as a time you lost something but then worked to get it back (learned an important lesson and didn't give up).

Good luck in the next election!
