medical internships/etc. in high school?

ive had a hard time finding a lot of things related to the medical field that are available for high school students.

everything is honestly available to grad students or you have to pay to enroll in a program or similar thing but I feel like that takes away from the value it really holds on its own. i would like to have some kind of formally recognized position somewhere, but I don't really know where to look.

I'm almost done with the process of applying to volunteer at my local hospital, maybe my best bet is to ask around once I start there to see if anyone knows someone that knows someone?
