Class rank importance

Hi!

So I have quite a low class rank, 57/442, but I have a perfect gpa, 4.0, and a qpa of 5.36. I have taken 4 ap classes, and I plan to take 5 more next year. Will my low class rank, because i’m in a latin class that was standard, affect my chances greatly into getting into a top school?

Considering you have a perfect unweighted GPA and are only ranked 57th, I assume you're a student at a highly competitive school, a school with heavily weighted AP classes, or a mix of both. Even if AP classes are heavily weighted, four AP classes, even by junior year, aren't insignificant. A standard Latin class shouldn't drastically affect class rank when you have a 4.0 unless you attend an extremely competitive school. Collages take a school's competitiveness into account when considering class rank. You shouldn't worry about class rank, especially with your stellar grades. If you're applying to top Universities, I would aim for 10 - 15 AP classes by the time you graduate. There are a plethora of other factors, both academic and extracurricular, when colleges make decisions about admissions, so if you keep your GPA high, test scores solid, and EC's passionate, you shouldn't have a problem with admissions.

Good Luck,

Jason
