How will a newsletter impact my Harvard Application?
Answered

Hi, I am a sophomore, and this summer, I am looking to start a newsletter highlighting my state's literacy levels and the efforts taken to combat low reading and writing skills. I want to go to Harvard, and my question is, what value will this add to my college application? I am really passionate about literacy and helping younger kids develop those skills after seeing a deficiency in my community.

Hello! I think it's great that you want to start a newsletter in your community. Something like this would definitely help your application shine among all of the other rell-rounded applications at Harvard. Top colleges actually really like to see some commitment and true passion in an extracurricular activity, and this would definitely showcase that. I would say keep on working on this newsletter to demonstrate passion, and your application will be VERY competitive (as long as you have good GPA and SAT/ACT, of course) Best of luck on this newsletter and your application!
