When I check my chances out using the chancing simulator, when I am in the overview tab I will have an acceptance rate of 2% when the school has an average acceptance rate of 4%. When I click on chancing, my calculated acceptance rate becomes 18%-20% instead of the calculated acceptance rate of 2% before. Which one is honest?
I believe the simulator changes your GPA and other scores such as SAT / ACT to a higher value to allow you to see how your chances would change if your grades change accordingly.
For me my GPA and SAT scores will be quite a bit higher on simulator while AP classes remain the same.
You can use the sliders to reset any changes and then move along. This serves as an indicator for you which improvements will have a significant impact on your application and which ones might be less important.
