Online Volunteering
Answered

A lot of online volunteering opportunities are suggested to high schoolers by bloggers and even Collegevine requires an age above 18, such as the UN volunteering program and Translators Without Borders. In this case, is it right to just say that I am over 18 even though I am not?

It's important to be honest about your age when applying for volunteering opportunities. Lying about your age could lead to negative consequences and might damage your credibility in the future. There are many other volunteering opportunities available for high school students, and finding the right one for you can be a rewarding experience.

What are your interests, and what type of volunteering work would you like to do? I can help you brainstorm some age-appropriate opportunities based on your preferences.

No; it is not a good idea to say you are over 18. Lying can lead to a lot of consequences, as well as a guilty conscience. Never lie. Period. It normally does you no good in the end.

I would encourage you to find opportunities that wouldn't require you to lie.

Hope this helps and please lmk if you have questions!
