Hi! I'm a rising senior that's curious about which major would get me into colleges based off of my ECs and classes.
I can't decide between nursing and bioengineering and I'd be happy majoring in either and working in either field, so that's not an issue with me. The thing is, I have no engineering-specific history and I plan on applying to a BioE major at all the schools that offer it and nursing to the rest (like 10 schools total). I am taking both IB Chem SL and IB Bio HL this year and next year will take IB Bio HL and regular physics (though schools probably won't see it in my schedule since it's senior year).
My ECs all revolve around volunteering and I was given a community service award from one of my regular volunteering spots, which I think is more nursing-oriented. I'll be attending a summer program this summer involving environmental and sustainable research. I'm involved in coding club, animal rights club and the school newspaper (and have won a few writing awards).
Does my background scream a certain major? should i just stick with my original plan of 60/40 on BioE and nursing in college apps?
Thank you so much!!
Based off of the extracurriculars you mentioned, it seems as if your profile and extracurriculars point more towards a nursing major, but if you're more interested in bioengineering, it could be turned that way pretty easily as well. It really depends on what you are most interested in and want to spend the rest of your life doing! I think your current plan is a good one though, especially if you still need time to decide which route you want to go on. Best of luck!
i think your original plan is fine to be honest. good luck on your admissions!!
