Hello Everyone,
I am getting worried about listing awards on my college application - my school does not do class rank, honors society, volunteering awards, honor roll, (I'm getting my AP scores back soon so we'll see if AP scholar works out), attendance awards, student of the month/year/week, etc. Since my school does not participate in these typical programs, what other opportunities could I look into? I am super interested in philosophy and neuroscience/psychology and have written a philosophy paper that I could possibly submit to a competition. I am really happy w/ GPA and ACT score, I volunteer a lot outside of school, and I have taken on various leadership roles in school, but I am looking to round out my application a bit.
Thank you! :)
I advice you to go for a general contest or a school-led competition. This can help a lot. There is something called the AMC which is a math contest. Given you have done well in the SAT I feel you should be good in math. If it is a bit late to you then you can register for online contest like the Online International Math Challenge which you can register real soo, a komodo math contest also happening soon and many more if you search well. I hope this helps you.
If your school doesn't give out awards, you can just say so in the add'l info section of your application! Quite a few schools don't give out awards so for colleges its perfectly fine if they don't have awards, just make sure to let them know. The things you've listed are very good, so the college/uni would probably assume from those things that you'd be a great student!

I think you can ask for a letter of recommendation. Since you are quite active at school, you should not be denied this
