I've read that living in a rural area or in a less common state (say, west coast for an east coast college, etc) improves your chances of admission. Does anyone know if the admissions percentage calculator can take this into account?
No, it doesn't. I gave Ivy (this website's personal AI) the prompt "How are chancing estimates determined through this" and it gave me the following response:
"Chancing estimations are determined by using a complex algorithm that takes into account various factors such as your academic performance, standardized test scores, extracurricular activities, intended major, and career goals. The algorithm is based on historical admissions data and trends."

Thanks -- much appreciated. I suspect the data needed to make these kinds of estimates isn't publicly available, so you'd have to guestimate how your location affects your odds. For state schools, figuring out in/out of state chances would be pretty easy, but for an elite private school it would be a lot harder.
