Admissions Advice

I want to get into Columbia University. Am I on the right track?

Hi! I am going into my sophomore year of high school, and my dream school is Columbia University in New York. I want to major in creative writing, and I'm wondering if these extracurriculars and classes I'm taking will make me stand out as an applicant? Advice would be very appreciated; thank you!

Current extracurriculars: Library volunteer (2-4 hours a week), varsity track & field, co-founder of Creative Writing Club, writer for school paper, Future Farmers of America, honors theater, staff writer for literary magazine

I took two Honors classes freshman year, since my school doesn't offer any APs at the freshman level. I took Honors English and theater, and my GPA is currently around 4.2. I'm planning to take AP World and English next year and continue in theater. My school has very limited AP and Honors courses, so I'm trying to join all that I can!

As for extracurriculars, I plan to continue all the ones above, as well as join the Quill & Scroll Foundation, and other Honors Societies around my school. I plan to be editor of the school paper this year and write as an FFA in the USA reporter. I'm also going to take the PSAT :)

Will these activities set me apart from other applicants?
