Does CollegeVine's chancing take major into account?
Answered

I live in Texas, and down here, if you're in the top 6% (probably changing to 5% in coming years) of your class, you get automatic admission into UT Austin. I'm in the top 1% and I think that's why it's put as 100% and a safety on my list on CollegeVine. But getting into UT automatically just means you're in general studies. Getting into a specific major is a completely different matter. So I was just wondering if this was a glitch, or if CollegeVine just doesn't look at the major you put in, and just focuses on whether or not you can get into the institution itself. This'll definitely help me out a lot when deciding on schools. Thanks so much!

I think it depends. They consider your major most of the time, I swapped mine a few times before and the percentages changed a little between each. However, they probably coded it where the auto-admit has priority over your intended major. If you want to get a general idea, just take your class rank off your profile for a moment and see! :D
