I've just started my sophomore year of high school, and my goal has always been to get into an Ivy League college. I'm just curious if these ECs are enough to get me in.
My intended major is an English or Creative Writing, so any further suggestions for extracurriculars would be very appreciated
SOPHOMORE YEAR:
- Volunteer at the library (so far I have 65 hours)
- Committee Chair of Fundraising
- Assistant editor of the school paper (the first sophomore to ever have this position!)
- Social media editor of the school paper
- Getting my Chapter Degree in FFA
- Parli Pro (kinda like debate) + Agricultural Sales
- Honors English, AP World + Honors Theater
- Member in Key Club, Theater Club and CSF
- Working on self-publishing a novel
- Published in award-winning literary magazine
- Peer tutoring (English)
I'm pretty busy, but I feel as if I could take on more. What do you think?
You’re already in great shape focus on deepening your current ECs, building a strong writing portfolio, and taking a few selective leadership or summer opportunities. Quality beats quantity here.
That sounds like a really great resume!! If I were you I wouldn’t add anything because you need time to study and spend at least a little time with friends because that’s just good for a person. It would also make it seem a little like you’re overdoing things to please the admissions officers. If you were to add something, pick something unique! I noticed you have a very strong profile, but try to add things that make you stand out. Congrats on getting your FFA Chapter Degree!!
