Does prestige really matter?
Answered

I'm a junior and I have a decent profile and I want to go into history maybe become a professor, journalist, or a politician and I'm kinda torn. Rutgers seems like a really nice school for me It's not extremely expensive, the perfect major (history/political science), and seems like it'll fit my vibe. The only thing though is I hear Rutgers doesn't have much prestige. So do I go to Rutgers or to a school that has more prestige (like Boston University). I feel like I would love Rutgers but I don't want to mess up my career path just because I didn't go to a more prestigious school.

I recommend you read the book "Where you go is not who you will be ..." By Frank Bruni. It has a lot of statistics related to the question you are asking. Best of luck!
