Am I cooked
Answered

I am a sophmore in highschool, last year (freshman year) i had a 3.2 GPA, right now I have a 2.8, its the first semester. Im taking: AP Psychology, Alg 2, Spanish 2, English 2, Honors Geometry, Honors Chem. I want to go to a UC or cal state, but my GPA is too low. Lets say I somehow get my gpa to go to a 3.3 from a 2.8 first semester. and a 3.8 second semster of sophmore year. Id have an avg GPA of 3.4 overall for freshman year and sophmore year. Realistically what GPA junior year + summer classes could get me to a 3.7-3.8 range? And If I cant get my GPA up from a 2.8 am I still cooked?

overall i think that you are doing great, as a sophmore also i do have high standards for myself so if you keep your grades up and show colleges that you are a hard worker i think that you can do anything you set your mind to! I suggest taking those summer classes and maybe starting a resume for future employers or colleges to show that you put in the work to get to the top.

Realistically I have calculated what your gpa is gonna be if it was a 4.0 for the next 2 years and the highest you can get your unweighted gpa is 3.625 my answer would be too focus on course rigor and your weighted gpa is your school does that

Honestly I think as a sophmore you just don't have enough information to decide which schools you're cooked and which you have a chance. You have two years and in those years you need to try as hard as you can. Classes will only get harder as you get older. If there's any way you can excuse your low GPA than you should mention it. Regardless, you should focus on extracurriculars or test scores because I don't think that your GPA is going to be the highlight of your application even if it takes a turn for the better. Anything is possible and if you really want to go to a UC or Calstate then it is possible to showcase it regardless of GPA.
