Sophomore GPA, How Important Is It?
Answered

Hello!

Currently a sophomore, and we have just started the second semester. As of the first semester, I had a GPA of 3.8 unweighted and 4.0 or 4.5 weighted. Just wondering, but do colleges specifically look at sophomore GPAs or mostly junior GPAs? I can still work to get a better GPA, and next year, for junior year i want to take AP classes. I'm going to take 4 years of Spanish and 4 years of Agriculture. I was thinking of taking 1 year of Avid and 4 years of Math. I'm looking to major in Veterinary Technology.

As a sophomore, my GPA is lowk the same, a 3.7 uw and 4.1 w. I would say don't worry about it and it's not that important esp. since you are taking ap's next year. For vet tech, I would recommend APES (I'm taking it this year), and AP Bio (I'm taking it next year). Colleges look at mostly junior GPA's and obviously they look at your entire three years + 1st sem of senior year, but junior year is the most important regarding admissions. They want to see an upward trend in your grades/rigor, and don't want you to stop a core subject (like math, English, science, or history) even if you fulfill HS credit requirements for your school. Great in Spanish, I'm taking it too! It's always to take more AP's and overdo it if you are going for a competitive college though, if you can handle it! (Sorry if this response is hard to read)

TLDR; ur fine, just keep challenging urself =)

Colleges look at all four years, but look at junior and senior year the most
