I'm the kind of person who loves helping out in my community, so how valuable is community service to top colleges? I know I'll have well over 70 hours(The amount required for the service award) by senior year but there isn't a section to gague that on the website. Does that mean its not all that important?
It depends on what college it is. Most colleges care about community service about as much or a little less than extracurriculars.
It can be a great addition to your profile if your service had some impact. If you're just doing the same thing every time and then going home, then it's a show of commitment but not of leadership or initiative, which a lot of colleges look for.
i'd it mostly depends on the value of the work you're doing and how much it aligns with your intended major and career path. if you're trying to go pre-med for example, colleges would value volunteering at a hospital more than volunteering at a foodbank (again, for example). then again it depends on where you'd liek to apply too. some colleges consider it more heavily than others in terms of its weight on your application. just be sure to do your research!
