Why does it occasionally not cost karma for me to submit an essay?Answered
Why does it occasionally not cost karma for me to submit an essay? At one point in the day it cost me 10, and later it said none required. Just curious.

Hey there! The amount of karma required for submission is based on the total queue of essays -- the cost changes based on total essay submission volume to healthily regulate return times. Karma costs can be either 0, 10, or 20 depending on the total queue.
I’m not certain but I believe the karma cost is adjusted based on how many essays are in the queue. So if a lot of people have submitted essays the cost goes up and then if there’s less the cost goes down. I’m not certain but I’m pretty sure in how that works.
@DebaterMAX is exactly right. The karma cost is dynamic based on the volume of submissions we are receiving at the time. When things are super busy the cost increases and when things are slow (like as of typing this comment) the cost is lower/free! EDIT: Whoops, was late to the game and missed that this was already answered by an expert!
:-) Can y’all update The Who are experts as yesh and zpx are new if I remember correctly
It should be updated now, I just checked and it was accurate for me. Yesh is one of our livestream hosts and @zpx3 is one of our co-founders and CEO
Byeeeee because I had the same question when I first joined college vine. What I noticed was that the karma was less during night time (0 or 10) and more during the daytime (10 or 20). So I am thinking that the numbers change with the demand for essays, so with more essays submitted, more karma is needed to submit yours. Tip: submit yours during the night time :)
