How does karma work?
The system is simple: you receive karma (sort of like a credit) when you help others. If you're short on karma, you can do any of the following to earn more:
- 1 karma for each 👍 upvote on a question you post
- 1 karma for each 👍 upvote on an answer you post
if your answer is marked accepted
- 10 karma for reviewing an essay
- 10 karma if your essay review is rated 5 ⭐️
You can then use your karma to submit an essay for review or guarantee an expert answer on Q&A.
This happens occasionally when a lot of essays are submitted for review in a short period of time. No matter how full the essay review queue gets, though, I've always still gotten my essays back within 24 hours of submitting them, even if it was more than the expected 8 or 12. If you used Karma to fast-track your essay, you can get a refund by clicking "Report Delay" by the essay your waiting for in the "My Essays" section. If not, you should just keep waiting, and they'll come back eventually. Unfortunately, College Vine hasn't created a policy that ensures that their expected times will be met all the time yet, so we're hoping that something like that comes around soon, but 24 hours is still a very good track record compared to literally any other essay review service. I hope this helped!
