Misalignment between ECs and major

Quick Question: Do you think a few (not related to major) awards/extracurriculars will hurt your application? I am currently an aspiring Economics major, and was wondering if a few short story publications would take away from the math/econ spike to be competitive for most t20s, Ivys, etc?

I really doubt that it would hurt you at all. I'd wager that it just wouldn't help as much as ECs that are related to your major. I'd add all but if you need to focus on any, make it on the ones that support your major. I typed this as a comment instead of an answer whoops.
