Ask the Swarthmore College Director of Recruitment questions about what it takes to get admitted to Swarthmore, their application process, academics, and more.

Swarthmore has seen limited campus visits and tours due to the coronavirus outbreak, and many families are missing out on the opportunity to learn about the college first hand from admissions staff on campus. Brenna will start the session with an in-depth overview of Swarthmore, covering topics ranging from admissions to academics to campus life. In the second half of the session, she'll open the floor to an audience Q&A session and answer your questions about Swarthmore admissions, life on campus, and more.

Q&A Participant

25:53@anonymous:I know admissions will be test-optional. Will tests factor into financial aid decisions at all?
27:17@anonymous:What is one thing that Swarthmore absolutely should or should not do in their applications?
30:04@anonymous:Could you describe the relationship between professors and students?
32:52@anonymous:For students interested in music (orchestras, band etc), but not as a major, what are some opportunities on and/or off campus?
34:50@anonymous::I am interested in pursuing film and screenwriting major. Do Swarthmore students produce movies, and do they submit their films to film festivals?
37:33@anonymous:I work with a number of high-achieving students, some of whom are burying themselves in extracurriculars, thinking they have to do everything. I tell them they don't. They don't, do they?
48:36@anonymous:Do you expect to see AP exam scores if you see a student has taken AP classes on his/her transcript?
51:53@brooklyn:Thank you! Applying ED and taking SAT this Sat . . . how can I add this score to the application when it comes in? (Prob not by Nov 15)
51:56@anonymous:Do our essays have to be "beautifully written" if that is not our style. Do you see essays that are more down to earth that still get in?
