1:32@anonymous:I am a transfer sophomore. When I was a freshman in high school, I was dealing with depression and most of it was due to the school I was attending at the time. Due to that my grade dropped rapidly. I have always been an A student but my freshmen year was a very traumatizing period in my life. My GPA in my freshmen year was around 3.4. After transferring, I have been doing very well. The school I currently attend is a rigorous school and one of the top 10 schools in my state. Starting from my Junior year I will be taking IB classes. I have a 4.28 weighted GPA and 4.78 unweighted. How does transfer transcript affect GPA?
6:14@anonymous:So I'm starting a club next year and I (hopefully) will be pursuing an internship this summer. What other extracirriculars do you reccomend?
11:19@anonymous:How many AP classes should I take in high school?
13:32@anonymous:How does selected major affect the admission to an IVY
16:56@anonymous:Does a study abroad help with college?
19:10@anonymous:With covid- ECs sort of went by the bye! Jr. year I will tryin and pick them up -- though will the Covid year be a considered factor - I have to think so ! tho I don't want to go running around JR year and just join things while classes get tougher . thx
22:37@Fathia:my school does not offer a lot of AP classes, how does that affect my chances of getting into a getting into a good college and scholarships? my school doesn't offer many AP classes how does that effect my chances of getting into a good school/ scholarship?
24:12@DJ1:Would you say your grades in ninth grade affect your college admission majorly?
25:43@Chioma.:Hi. I started living in the US literally last year and I joined a school at the second semester of 9th grade. Because of the pandemic, the school I attended at the time decided to do a pass/no pass grade for the semester and therefore nothing was added to my GPA. It was at a 0.0. My current unweighted GPA is at 4.0 and my weighted is 4.33 because of a dual enrollment class I am taking this year. I haven't decided on what honors/AP classes to take to build my weighted GPA. Which do you suggest are the best(or easiest)? and do you think my 0.0 GPA in 9th grade will affect me negatively?
29:51@DJ1:Do you think that Ivy League schools discriminate? MIT is literally 3/4 asian and virtually no black. But I'm worried because I'm black.
37:12@anonymous: From same person who said ECs at High school went on the by and bye for covid HOWEVER- during covid I have done a ton of community volunteer activities- and several at a very high level Also I plan on continuing doing these Jr. and Senior year perhaps at the determent of HS ECs as they (the Voln. projects )are really important. Where and or do applications take that into account
38:51@anonymous:I am a sophomore in high school and am considering taking Algebra 2 over the summer so i can fit in AP Calc as a senior. Is this a good idea? Would it be too difficult? And do colleges look at if i have taken AP Calc or not? I got mostly straight A’s in Algebra 1 and Geometry, but am concerned that Summer is a relatively short time to pack an entire year’s course content.
42:14@anonymous:I have a 3.5 GPA at an IB school being in sophomore. Will getting selected on the Varisty team for cross country next academic year cancel out for the average GPA increasing my chances at good schools?
45:22@anonymous:Yea! So I'm interested in architecture. So I'm going to start an architecture club (as far as I know, little to no schools in the Chicago land area has an architecture club) and I'm planning on pursuing an architecture internship. Do you think an architecture newsletter aimed towards middle schoolers seems impressive to an IVY?
47:47@anonymous:What should I major in if I want to be an immigration lawyer?
52:30@anonymous:I actually work at a immigration law firm and the lawyer I work for he went to Columbia with Obama, and majored in international affairs
52:57@anonymous:I am full time online for covid and may stay full online for jr./senior year. This is a Colorado public (established10 years) full time online school. Tho I don't get to know my teachers --how can I get a teacher recommendation ?? Do colleges hold that against you if can't get great teacher rec thx
55:42@anonymous:your Calc AP explanation you said something like : that schools only know what classes "you intend" to take senior yr. does that mean grades in senior classes do not matter ?
56:57@Fathia:what extra curriculars did you do to get into BU?
59:19@anonymous:Im student asked about senior yr classes --So they don't know grades form senior yr classes so ....I can slide senior year???!! ;)
