Your host

Undergrad College: Rice University '20

Work Experience: During my time at Rice, I mentored dozens of high school students through the college application process, along with editing essays and tutoring students for the ACT/SAT. I also interned at a medical technology startup, conducted research in Brazil, and gave a TEDx talk. I recently finished applying to medical school; I've been admitted to multiple schools, and will be starting in the Fall.

My Admissions Story: I remember feeling very blindsided by the admissions process and not knowing where to begin. I hope that sharing my experiences and some of the things I’ve learned along the way will help guide other students in a similar boat.

3:43@saraht0enin:where are u going for med school?
6:20@saraht0enin:you're good
6:34@adityav:we can hear
9:55@JessicaM:Will IB classes give you credits?
10:15@saraht0enin:can you get credit for pre-reqs at a community college instead of at your University?
17:52@adityav:Hi, I'm Junior in HS and am taking all the AP courses you mentioned. I'm positive to pursue a career in Medicine. The confusion Ive is between the 8/7 yrs BS/BA/MD combined and the regular pre-Med and MCAT track. Except Brown, none of the top schools offer the combined program. What is your opinion about getting a pre-med from a top school Vs the combined program?
26:47@adityav:Thank you very much.
26:54@fani:I'm not sure if I want to go down the med school track or become a PA yet. I know the two professions have a lot of similarities but can also be fairly different at times. I sometimes feel like I only want to become a PA because the process of getting into med school and going through it is so stressful. Is that a wrong way of thinking and should I not go down the PA track just because I'm scared of the process of becoming a doctor. I know I want to stay in the healthcare field.
29:12@saraht0enin:omg i feel the SAME way hahahha
32:05@fani:Thank you!
33:57@fani:I tried finding your livestream about PA vs MD on your page, but I'm not sure I can find it.
34:25@adityav:What is the recommended Major in a pre med track? I see mostly Biology, Chemistry as options. As long as you meet the pre med requirements can you take any Major? I do see NeuroScience, Bio-Tech, Bio-Engineering.
38:32@saraht0enin:what advice would you give someone who wants to be pre-med but hates math and isn't the best at it?
43:35@adityav:GPA and your school - How much these matter apart from MCAT to get into Med Schools? For example say for similar MCAT score, a 3.5 from an IV vs a 4.0 from a non IV?
49:26@Janavi:Hi! I'm a Junior in HS and i was curious if med schools require or prefer pre-med students to publish research papers during their time in undergrad. Is it important for pre-med students to find/explore research opportunities?
54:46@saraht0enin:what happens if you dont get matched into a residency?
59:45@ph-1:thank you so so so much !!!
60:06@Janavi:Thank you so much!
60:32@adityav:Thank you very much. Very best for your med career
