Come with all of your questions about these types of schools as they break down the pros and cons so you can figure out which is right for you!

Your host

Undergrad College: Rice University '20

Work Experience: During my time at Rice, I mentored dozens of high school students through the college application process, along with editing essays and tutoring students for the ACT/SAT. I also interned at a medical technology startup, conducted research in Brazil, and gave a TEDx talk. I recently finished applying to medical school; I've been admitted to multiple schools, and will be starting in the Fall.

My Admissions Story: I remember feeling very blindsided by the admissions process and not knowing where to begin. I hope that sharing my experiences and some of the things I’ve learned along the way will help guide other students in a similar boat.

Audience questions

These are questions from the audience that we had time to answer during the live session. If you have any other questions, you can request an answer from Shravya and other CollegeVine experts in an upcoming livestream or on the Q&A Forum anytime.
3:15@Kadin:Are you recording this? I would like to watch it later.
24:12@saraht0enin:I often hear that private universities are PWI's (predominantly white institutions) - has that affected your experience in college? did you face adversity/racism?
33:21@Sukhada:Is it worth applying to public universities out of state when they end up costing the same as private schools?
41:28@Sukhada:I heard many private schools don’t accept AP credits, is that necessarily a bad thing?
45:18@Sukhada:Did you have to pay extra for the therapy and stuff?
50:56@Sukhada:Are the dorms/student living in private schools better?
56:04@Sukhada:I know you already talked about the caps on majors, but could you please explain that again? Is it better to apply undecided to private schools?
61:11@Sukhada:Thank you so much!
