I am a international student too, from Brazil, and I think you should try to give special attention to your extracurricular activities by doing something you really like and help your community, even if you will help only one person.

I heard a lot that we should show to the colleges who we are with the stuff we do, so the extracurricular it's a really good chance to do that.

And off course keep your grades good specially in your last year at high school.

If you will make the SAT, study a least four times for week for it, even more.

Start to write your personal essay just now because you have a good time to write something about you really special, so use this chance you have now. And don't forget of write about YOU, don't talk about other people in your essay and show what you have in your life that is unique.

Don't start writing to one prompt specific, write about you and special moments at your life that you think they should know about you.

And enjoy the process!

Don't do too much at once and do things you like, don't the things you think the univeristies will like!
