How to convert my grade to US format?
Answered

Hi i'm a Brazilian student and i'm in doubt about how the US grades works. i have an avarage of 90.9. How it would be in the US format?

- All classes here have the same level of difficulty

- There's no AP's and IB here (not in normal schools)

There is no need to convert your grades from a 100.00 point scale to a 4.0 Scale.

All college admissions officers will prefer to read your high school transcript in its original format on a 100.00 scale. When you fill out the Common Application just select 100 point scale for your grade scale on the application.

This goes for everyone else whether they are applying domestically or internationally. Do not attempt to convert your grades because you might do it wrong and that can either hurt you or get you in trouble for over-estimating the actual 4.0 GPA.

Use whatever scale your school uses on the common app. If your school uses 100.0 point scale, 5 point, 6 point, 7 point, 9 point, 10 point, 11 point, 13 point scale use that scale.

Good luck.

So with a little bit of research I found a ranking system that might be helpful.

Grade - Scale - Second Scale - Description - US Grade point (Format)

So with a 90.9 you'd fall in the A area, but I gave the ranking for B as well just to be safe.

Grade: A - Scale: 9-10 - Second Scale: 90-100 -Description: Excellent (Excelente) - US Grade Point: 4.0

Grade: B - Scale: 7-8.99 - Second Scale: 70 - 89.99 - Description: Good (Bom) - US Grade Point: 3.0

(If you'd like, you can calculate it more concretely here: https://www.scholaro.com/gpa-calculator/)

This calculator will convert your grades into US letter grades and GPA:

It will give you the individual grade and the cumulative GPA. It seems there are several grading systems for Brazil, so hopefully yours is on there. However, I don't know how Brazilian grades are averaged; thus, it would be best to speak to your school and check to make sure the conversion is correct.

Hope this helps :)
