Would a 3.98 UW GPA be considered good when applying to UCSD?
Answered

My school doesn't offer honors classes and only offers 12 APs. At the same time, my school also does not calculate a weighted GPA. I've read that the average GPA for accepted applicants to UCSD is 4.08 weighted. Even if I were to apply with my unweighted GPA (3.98), would my chances fall due to a lower weighted GPA if calculated by the admissions officers?

Your chances will not be affected by how your school calculates weighted GPA. UCSD will use their own equations as well as a school report from your guidance counselor to assess your academic performance. They will calculate your weighted GPA during this process. In any case, a 3.98 is an excellent unweighted GPA. If you have been taking as many AP classes as you can, your weighted GPA will surely be just as impressive. Hope this helps!
